Building Winning Solutions Grounded on Service Fueled by Love

Maximizing Productivity | Improving Efficiency |Driving Growth

My leadership foundation was established during my time at Multi Systems Inc. (MSI). MSI is a leading provider of technology to the hotel industry. MSI designs, develops, installs and supports technology solutions supporting all aspects of the day to day hotel operations. At the age of 36, I assumed the role of President for MSI.

During this time, I was privileged to develop c-level relationships within hotel brands like Hyatt Hotels, Best Western, La Quinta and Wyndham to name a few. My role was to drive MSI’s operations towards producing technology solutions which enabled each brand to implement unique front-desk functionality, supporting their sales and marketing strategies. In addition, I led MSI through a strategic acquisition which increased the organization’s annual revenue supported by 200 full-time associates operating out of both Phoenix, Arizona and Dickinson, North Dakota.

After MSI, I accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer serving Jewish Voice. JVMI utilizes multiple media platforms to communicate our world-wide mission. These media platforms include television, social media, web-based media, print media, direct-mail marketing and donor development relationship building to raise funds and awareness of our mission. Donations generated through these platforms fund our humanitarian medical clinics in remote global locations, including Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Israel and India, where we provide desperately needed holistic medical care to some of the most impoverished Jewish people in the world.

This move into an entirely different business market afforded me the opportunity to test my leadership skills and demonstrate my leadership agility. Since joining Jewish Voice, we increased annual donation revenue - significantly. This growth represents a 70% increase within four years, and we are projecting to close 2015 with a 25% increase over last year. During this season of rapid growth, I was able to rebuild the leadership team, increase employee engagement across the organization and improve the communications and interactions with our three separate operating boards of directors (US, UK, and Canada).

Giving back to the community is at the core of my values system. Recently, I served as Chairman of the Board for Central Arizona Shelter Services, the largest homeless shelter in Phoenix. Most recently, I partnered with my children’s elementary school to launch Watch D.O.G.S or Dads of Great Students. A one-of-a-kind, school-based father involvement program that works to support education and safety. In addition, I play an active leadership role in my local church - Christ's Church of the Valley.

While serving as President for MSI, I utilized my influence to lead MSI's participation in multiple community service opportunities - from building a strong partnership with the local Ronald McDonald House to being the first corporate organization to join forces with Open Table. Open Table is a local organization dedicated to moving the homeless from poverty maintenance to self-sufficiency. Another service project took a team from the company to Mexico for three days to join forces with One Mission. During their stay this team built a small house for a local family.

I believe that leading an organization requires a servant-minded leader with strong relationship skills, and I have found great value in applying knowledge learned through my Masters of Social Work program. My undergraduate degree was earned from College of the Ozarks, where I was assigned to work in the Public Relations office. In exchange, I was able to graduate debt free while gaining valuable experience supporting the PR initiatives of the college.

    Jonathan Bernis

CEO & President at Jewish Voice Ministries International

Tim served Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI) as our Chief Operations Officer from 2010 through 2015. During this time, our organization experienced significant growth, both in donation revenue and a near doubling of staff. During Tim’s tenure he utilized his strong servant leadership skills to contribute to this impressive growth and expansion.

Tim’s servant heart shined through in every aspect of his work. This was evidenced by his focus on always trying to help others to succeed. His creative solutions and resourcefulness were highly valued and brought about many needed changes in our dynamic environment.

I am grateful for Tim’s leadership and his service. His lists of accomplishments during his tenure are long and will have a lasting, positive effect on our organization for many years to come. A few of the more remarkable accomplishments include:

    • Realigning the leadership structure, resulting in improved operations. Tim was also instrumental in recruiting some of our key staff.
    • Building a culture of teamwork. Tim’s leadership style was engaging and collaborative.
    • Building renovations and relocations into our current office space within budget and on time
    • Development of departmental dashboards allowing the leadership team to stay abreast of progress and respond to changing conditions
    • The expansion of our partner relations infrastructure supported by improved performance metrics resulting in a 25% increase in donation revenue
    • Built successful outsourcing relationships with our vendors and effectively managed those relationships through several transitions
    • Improved employee engagement with our most recent survey indicating a level of 72% staff engagement.

The outcomes of Tim’s efforts were grounded on his constant utilization of a core set of skills. Those skills are made up of following strengths:

    • Teambuilding – Tim does this through one-on-one meetings with direct reports, during the bi-weekly team huddle and during department meetings. He strives to get input from the leadership team to gain buy-in for initiatives as they are established
    • Strong communication skills – Tim is a measured communicator who addresses things with thoughtfulness and kindness.
    • Excellent presenter – Tim conducts presentations with a high degree of skill and gifting.
    • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver – Tim understands the importance of factoring all variables when setting vision or taking action for the entire organization. He also offers creative and innovative ideas.
    • Supportive leader – Tim is very supportive of his direct reports offering help to overcome obstacles they face or during crunch time. He makes himself available when the going gets tough.

In summary, I would describe Tim as an articulate communicator, servant leader, team builder, and creative thinker with a strong work ethic.

As a business owner at MyTek, I routinely visited with clients. I had the unique opportunity to experience many leaders and C-level individuals in action across a wide variety of clients and industries. Throughout the years many leaders stand out in my mind, but none more than Tim Tiller.

Tim was COO at a large non-profit client and on several occasions I recall sitting in meetings with Tim and his team – and I thought, I want this person on my team. Tim’s leadership abilities and admiration & respect from the team he built was like none other I had witnessed before. MyTek needed Tim and I was committed to making that happen, if the opportunity ever presented itself. When Tim shared he was transitioning out of the non-profit – it was clear I was presented with the opportunity to add Tim to the MyTek executive team.

Tim joined the MyTek team as COO and as I had expected, Tim embraced the leadership role. Tim immediately went to work and tackled things like employee engagement, productivity and organizational structure. Tim’s effort was transformational in taking a largely entrepreneurial company and formalizing it into a mature process driven business.

Tim’s commitment to making positive change was both effective and quicker than I had expected. Tim’s approach was carefully thought-out and based on thorough analysis and detailed knowledge of all relevant facts. Tim is a creative outside of the box thinker, who develops new ideas, process and systems or improves existing ones. Tim possesses strong leadership qualities and provides direction to the team in a consistent and clear manner. As a result, Mytek is a strong process driven agile team with a bright future under Tim’s leadership.

Ultimately, I promoted Tim to President and CEO of MyTek which allowed me the time to pursue my goals outside of MyTek and at the same time leave MyTek in capable hands.

Working with Tim is one of the high-points of my journey as a business owner. I recommend Tim for any leadership role in any type and size of organization.

Based upon my knowing Tim for almost six years as a leader in both for profit and not for profit organizations, he is a leader of people in addition to being an outstanding business manager. Tim has the ability to understand an organization's vision, mission and core values and translate them into actionable strategic thinking and execution plans. This involves engaging the leadership team and ensuring that not only do they understand what needs to be done, but also engaging the entire team so they understand the importance of how their individual actions contribute to achieving the organization’s key initiatives. Tim’s track record during the time I've known him are a testament to his abilities as he thrives in addressing opportunities and challenges. In short, Tim achieves results.

Accelerate Performance and Fix the Results

My work allows me to work with a large group of senior leaders across the for profit and non profits space. Tim Tiller is one of the "A" players in the role of senior leader of an organization. Tim focuses on the strategic thinking and combines strong execution planning with his team. I have know Tim for more than 9 years now and observed how he is a consistent learner of all things new that allow him to coach his team effectively. I think most importantly Tim views his role as a leader who casts influence, coaches his team and is ready to serve his team in any way needed. Finally I have also observed that the company that Tim leads will see results - the ultimate mark of the senior leader.

Tim Tiller is an incredibly effective leader in many aspects including enhancing operational goals and strengthening employee relationships. He is a great problem solver who is always making sure the organization's mission is kept at the forefront while striving to best increase the operations to support the mission and serve more people. In addition to organizational goals, he understands the importance of strong employee relationships and their tie to high-performing teams. Tim always makes sure he is available and approachable; he constantly goes out of his way to ask if anyone needs his help or what he can do to serve them. In my experience of working directly with Tim on a project, his accessibility and willingness to assist in any way he could made him my strongest ally and allowed me to be successful and feel valued. Tim would be a tremendous asset to any organization because of his consistent leadership qualities.

I can only offer the highest recommendation for Tim Tiller, a man with whom I worked closely every day for the four-plus years since he joined Jewish Voice Ministries Intl as its COO. During this time, I came to enjoy reporting directly to him as my Supervisor and my friend. I have found him to be a leader of leaders. Tim is a most creative problem solver who keeps calm under pressure, while remaining sensitive and concerned for the well-being of those around him. Tim has outstanding ability to adapt to the culture of an organization as needed, a trait that I find to be quite rare. His business sense and aptitude for rapid change make him an invaluable asset. Tim's expertise, performance, analytical skills, personal and business acumen, strength of character, and dedication to the cause and goals of an organization make it an extreme honor for me to recommend him for serious consideration to any organization that plans to be successful.
